Prince Claus died in October 2002 and people laid flowers and other items at the Royal Palaces in Amsterdam and
The Hague in rememberance. Unfortunately that was a very COLD and RAINY day, so I didn't get any photos until a couple days later when it
was sunny, but they still had some items left there. Here a woman pauses at the steps of the Royal Palace.

On to more cheerful topics, there are strange ads like these in Amsterdam, advertising careers like Airport Security Guard and
Tram Conductor, I guess not enough people are interested and hopefully someone will be inspired to change careers by seeing these
advertisements...

We had quite the bad wind storm on Sunday, October 27th with trees down all over the city. I was on my way back from Church in south
Amsterdam and getting back into the city was made rather difficult by this tree down over the tram lines, eventually a bus came and
got everyone waiting at the Tram 9 stop along Brinkstraat near the A10. It tried to go North along the #9 route, but encountered this,
turned around and headed around the A10 to Amstel Station near where I work. Of course, just as I got there they cancelled all train
service, so I walked across the Amstel River in P-O-U-R-I-N-G rain to work where I spent about 10 minutes redialing the taxi
service (there are only TWO cab services in Amsterdam - the easiest on to remember is 677-7777). Lucikly I got through and was home
shortly thereafter, but it was quite the adventure.
